The Kind of Woman I Want to Be
Ok. So I missed yesterday. Saturdays don't count. We went to the adult session of Stake Conference and our Stake R.S. Pres. spoke. Because they asked me to help on the Stake Women's Conference a few weeks ago I know her a little bit - and I love her. She is just such a kind, loving, accepting, calm, sweet person. Her message was powerful for me - I will write about it another time. Another woman spoke. She is the temple Matron for the Idaho Falls Temple. I don't know her, but she came across to me as a person of great faith and strength. I was thinking about these women and how they do not fit the world's standard of anything that great. They are not gorgeous or famous or well-educated or well-traveled or rich, but they are absolutely the kind of women I want to be.

Some Constraints and Missionary Work
I've decided to put some constraints on this little project of mine. The NEW goal is the write every day for one month (or until March 25 - my bday!) Then I will re-evaluate...
My thought for today is from President Eyring's message in the Feb. Ensign. It is about missionary work. The part that stood out to me most was this: "We need to exercise our faith that the Lord has prepared people around us to be taught. He knows who they are and when they are ready, and He can guide us to them by the power of the Holy Ghost and give us words to invite them to be taught."
I like this because I think applies so much to how I feel about missionary work. Part of my motivation - ok, a MAJOR part - of my motivation for wanting to do missionary work is that I want my boys to serve missions and I realize that if missionary work isn't important to me and to our family, then it might not be important to them. I do want to share the gospel but I always think that there isn't anyone I know that would... work. I need to follow Pres. Eyring's counsel and exercise my faith that the Lord has prepared someone around me. HE knows who they are, and HE can guide me to them.

Cheerios
I honestly didn't notice that my scriptures felt a little thicker... I just opened them up to find 3 Honey Nut cheerios (not crushed thankfully!) within the pages of the Old Testament. Thanks Claire! :)
Manna
I chose the title "Manna" because of a talk I heard recently. It was Elder Christofferson at a CES broadcast (I had to look that up :) He talked about the Lord's prayer in Matthew 6, and specifically about verse 11 which says: "Give us this day our daily bread". He taught about the importance of receiving help from the Lord EVERY DAY. He talked about the children of Israel receiving a "daily sustenance, one day at a time". I like that idea. This blog, for me, is going to be a daily sustenance; a way of looking to God every day. "As we seek and receive divine bread daily, our faith and trust in God and His Son grow." (E. Christofferson)
Beginning
I was cleaning my kitchen, actually scrubbing the table, and thinking about how I want to refinish it. Well, I was thinking about a lot of things... Somewhere in the middle of that I had the idea to start a blog where I would post a spiritual thought every day. I am excited because I think this is going to help me LOOK for spiritual things. I think it will be good for me "prepare" something. I think the blog format will help me do a better job than I would if I were to write it in my journal. Here we go...
